Did I install My Kill Switch Correctly on my Yamaha?

Have a '94 YZ125 that didn't have a kill switch on it when we bought it. My son had to dump the clutch to stop the motor. I purchased a kill switch that has a black/white wire and a black ground wire. The CDI originally had 3 wires coming out of it. The orange wire goes to the coil, the black wire goes to the coil and then the black/white wire was cut really short and it looks like the previous owner spliced into the black wire when they rigged up something. Is this what I do? Splice into the black wire going from the coil to the cdi unit, or do I wire up the cut black/white wire with the killswitch black/white wire?
