Does anybody else feel like Barack obamas race has been stressed too much?

i am an african american male and though i am proud to see that Barack obama as become the first black president i have to say i have mixed feelings. it is wonderful that to see how far people of my race have gone, from cotton pickers to world leaders. however it seems like the media and a good portion of america are forgetting that obama is a president for AMERICANS, not just blacks. i mean maybe i am reaching too much but i feel like obamas race is being made more of an issue than it should be. this man potentially has the power to start world war 3 yet his ancestry is the main subject of conversation? i don' know is it just me or am i on to something?
