How exactly were 6 month old infants "warned" of a coming Great Flood?

Why on earth do Christians keep saying babies are innocent, when they condone the drowning on infants. How can babies build boats, make decisions for themselves, or be "warned" in the first place? Why do Christians squirm like night crawlers when posed questions such as these?
