Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar: Why aren't people accepting my gifts?

Alright, so I want to have blue hearts with every bachelor, so I decided to start with Angelo. I looked up his heart events and discovered that you had to have at least 5000 friendship points with Kevin. I figured it would be no problem considering Kevin liked all desserts and I could get 500 friendship points for each dessert I gave him. So here is where the problem is, Kevin won't except anything I try to give him! He keeps saying, "I don't want it!". I have already heard the rumors that if you don't talk to someone for a long time, they won't accept anything from you. If this is true, how would you fix it? Please help me.
