Can you have fictional characters going to see a real movie?

You can, but it's a better idea to make it up. What if you give away the ending to a movie the reader wanted to see? It also dates your novel. Would you like reading a book that takes place in the present, but has the title of a movie from the '80s coming out in theatres? It's a bit confusing, yeah? If you're not worried about that, then go ahead and mention the titles.
